Gel Toes

The new thing in pedicure world is Gel Toes. I think it should be renamed Glitter Toes. The reason for this is that all the colors have glitter in them. It's actually a powder not a polish. They use a clue first and then dump the powder, shake it off and let it dry. It's supposed to last a month or so. I went with my friend Emily on Thursday and got them done at a school...it was $15! A rip off. I am thinking that I could find it at a supply store and do it myself for cheaper. I want to try it on my finger nails too. The result I have to tell you is pretty cute. Mine are pink, like barbie pink and sooo cute!

Weather

I am not a partly cloudy, 56 degree girl. And yet the last few days here have been exactly that, even at times colder, and rainy. For goodness sakes, it's June; aka summer. I want sunny and about 80. That's the kind of weather I pray for. I look outside every morning, log onto weather.com 4 times a day, waiting for the sun to be high in the sky, no sign of clouds. And yet this is the weekend I'm getting
Jun 6 Today
Windy with isolated thunderstorms developing. High 71F. Chance of rain 30%.
Jun 7
Tomorrow
Chance of a shower or two during the morning, followed by partly cloudy skies in the afternoon.

I Will Survive....Hey Hey!

For as long as I can remember, my mother has been running. She is this skinny little petite woman with legs. She's done races throughout her life and just finished her first triathlon...GO MOM!

Since she loves to run she has tried to get me to share in the passion....to no avail. I hate running. For those who run; why do you do something that makes your body hurt? It just doesn't feel good to me and never has. I haven't lasted 2 weeks in a running workout. Sorry mom it just workes better for people like you.
Then I get married and low and behold, my mother-in-law....a runner. She is built much the same as my mom, skinny little petite, with strength. She has done multiple races including the Boston Marathon this year...GO MOM-IN-LAW.

With both sides invested in running, it was inevitable; I began another attempt at running. To be honest, I never really trained nor did a get to a vigorous workout routine but for whatever reason, and I still don't really have one; I signed up for the BolderBoulder 10k in Colorado. GO ME!

What do you know, I finished. I finished faster than I thought I would. For me, 12 min. miles are stellar. The legacy continues

Sur-ock @ the Daines Home

So last night was the big final-e of American Idol. This was my first season experience and I actually really like the show. After David Cook was announced as the Idol for Season 7, my husband was surprised and I was shocked thus we were sur-ocked. Now, it wasn't a bad thing. Cook is not a bad choice and he has had a few songs that I have like; (Billie Jean, Eleanor Rigby) hmm...girl songs.... anyway, but he hasn't been my pick. Archuleta has been my vote since day one. He totally has a better voice and he's so funny in front of the camera; just a cute little boy. I always thought Cook seemed a bit arrogant but at the same time a nice enough guy. My husband likes him better and has since the beginning but he did think that Archuleta was going to win. 12 million votes....kinda sounds like a lot but the 56% to 44% doesn't. Anyway, needless to say we were not expecting the outcome of last night's Idol results. However, I'm ok with it. Archuleta will get a great contract and I'll buy his CD.

Women's Conference 2008

Ok, so every year for the past three years, my mother and I have gone to BYU Women's Conference. Each year we pick up more people to go with. My grandma, aunts, cousins, etc. It is something I look forward to all year and am excited for many more traditions of annual Women's conference. Like my mom, I love to do the humanitarian aid projects while listening to the classes. This year I completed 2 baby blankets and 1 1/2 loomed hats. I feel so homemaker-like. Another favorite is seeing the mass herds of women gathered all across campus, each filled with excitement over their latest spiritual feeding. For me, it doesn't matter what the class is on or who is speaking, there is always something that the spirit can and does teach. I learn how to be a better wife, neighbor, daughter, friend; person. Sheri Dew spoke at our Friday morning session and it was a phenomenal and extremely touching talk. She encouraged women of the church to be different, that we have a sacred duty to set the example. An example that helps women to shed forth their light and knowledge to the world. She asked, "We should be far more distinctive than even the very finest women in the world. Are we?"

The spirit that can be felt at the conference is so very strong. For those who have never attended, I encourage you to look into it for 2009. Go to http://ce.byu.edu/cw/womensconference

Back to Zoobieville

It's true, we are once again in BYU territory. David and I went for a week to visit my family and his brother's family. Then after, we packed the car and drove to Utah. We are just about moved in and I am so excited to see some of my friends that I will have to leave behind in June. While here, David will finish his last term and finally receive his Bachelors. I will get things ready for our new home, make sure everything is in order and work a few hours at the good 'ole P.F.

Isn't it great to visit family

some times you forget what they are like

Easter Fun

Under here?

This year for Easter I was with my family since I had been watching the kids. My parents came home from their cruise on Easter so we were able to be together. All except for David. The kids and I painted Easter Eggs on Saturday and had the hunt. We found our Easter Baskets on Sunday and played croquet on Monday. It was such a fun weekend with my family.

While the Cats Away, the Mice Will Play

About a month ago, my parents went on a cruise for their 25th wedding anniversary. While they were gone having fun on a boat...my siblings and I had fun at the casa. I came out and played "mom". It was such a blast. We slept in til 10am, made some awesome meals, went to movies, sat outside in the gorgeous sun, and took a trip to see Bryce and Pamela. It was pretty cool to be with them and feel like one of the kids again. I almost forgot I was married.....no how could I forget my dear husband. I missed him a lot!

When we were visiting B&P, we went to a park near their new home. The kids had fun playing....especially James and Taylor; they're buddies. The girls sat around and talked (of course). It was fun to see Kaylee there too since she was visiting the same time.

Missing the Long

I've pondered a lot lately. I've decided I miss my long hair. I said for years that after I got married I would chop my hair off. Well, I'm married, and I chopped it off. 15 inches of beautiful red hair. This picture is 7 months after the major cut. 7 MONTHS; and it's only this long. The top layers were about 5-6 inches shorter than they are now so I've had to cut the bottom 3 times now so that I wouldn't get a mullet. It's going to take roughly 3 1/2 years to get my hair back to where it was. Sad.

My Friends Are A Little Fishy

So for Valentine's Day, David got me a fish tank. I have always wanted to have a Nemo aquarium since the movie came out and my sweet husband wanted to get me started. Nemo fish are salt water aquarium kind, and more difficult to take care of; David decided I should start with fresh water and see how we do before we move up to the intermediate side of fishing!

Here is our beginner Fresh Water Aquarium! We decided to have semi-agressive fish and you have to keep it the same....if you had community fish in with aggressive fish, well, they wouldn't do so well!

There is a Rainbow Shark in front of the bridge. His name is Elton John.

Below are our other fish. A Silver Dollar, Tiger Barb, and Angel Fish.
Fity Cent is hiding off the left, Tiger Woods, and Shorty to the right. Tiger is the most agressive fish we have. He has killed 3 of our fish. He nips at the other's fins and stresses them out. Shorty died a few days after this pic. Her fins down to stubs....hmmm, wonder who did that!
I really do love my fish...we just have to make sure Tiger doesn't kill off any more. Thanks David!
