An Offer...woo hoo!
David and I have taken a big step as a grown-up married couple. We put an offer on a home Monday. From the moment we walked into the house we knew it had definite potential. With hardwood floors, upgraded carpet, paint, 42" oak kitchen cabinets, beautiful tile through-out, it was what we'd been waiting for.
The home is located a block away from an elementary school and boasts a huge backyard. It's a screamin' deal....way below appraisal value. It will probably take a month, maybe more to find out if our offer is accepted (it's a short sale with the bank). It's hard to think we might not get it but the broker seemed optimisic so hopefully it will go through.

We're going....
The hunt is on! House hunting that is. Many of you have gone through the experience in one way or another so I'm sure you know the fun that is associated with it. David and I are lucky that we have a few months before we really need to get serious. I remember that often, when my parents have been looking for houses, their time frame was no longer than 4 days! Between the internet searching and foot views, I have probably seen hundreds of homes in the past month and a half! I think I've narrowed it down a bit as far as floor plan and location. We've also come to agree on the key amenities for us; open updated kitchen, general open feel throughout the home, clean clean clean!!! I have been amazed that cleanliness is not a given when trying to sell a home. I've walked into garbage, old messes, floors that haven't seen a vacuum in days. Apparently it's not standard to clean your home if you are moving...my bad!
Even so, it's a very fun adventure to be a part of. Also very grown up. It's nice that right now seems to be the time to buy. With interest rates so low and housing prices below value, we're bound to find something that will work and be a great deal.

A Trip Down Under
G'Day Mates
We had quite the adventure this year. On December 21st, David, me, his brother Nathan and sister Mindy boarded a plane at 6:25pm and traveled many perilous miles til we got off of a very different plane in Queenstown, New Zealand at 5:30pm on December 23rd. We joined the rest of the Daines clan, 14 in all, and started our adventure. This was quite a miracle seeing that I lost my passport on the plane (i did find it later)

Can you see the Croc?

Kukaburra sits in the old gum tree....
Between crocodiles, kangaroos, koalas, bungji jumping, and river raftingwe had way too much fun yet survived it all!

The scenery is goregeous!!

What Our Season Brings
'Tis the season... For gift giving, decorations, wassil, Australia, New Zealand, boxes, and packing.
David and I are very excited for the adventures the end of the year have brought us. In 4 days we are headed down under. All the Daines' will be trugging around the outback and New Zealand's terrain for some great holiday fun. I'm excited to be with David's family and have a very long awaited vacation. (updates and pictures to follow)
If preparing for a trip around the world seems stressful during the christmas season, then add packing for a move and you get chaos! David has been offered a job and it was too good to pass up. He is very excited and I think it will be good for us.
As for me; since we'll be living with David's parents for the first semester while we look, buy/ build---decide on housing, I will be hanging out with his family. I really am excited to be with them and bond more!
Well, for a New Year's Resolution I will be better at this blog and will add pictures!! Love to all, and a wish for a very Merry Christmas.

And now for something completely different.....
Blogspot.com; what an idea. We're so obviously new at this but thought we'd give it a go. For starters and as way of introduction....We are the Daines'; Malerie & David. Married in the beautiful Jordan River Temple, July 14, 2007. Met at a BYU singles ward (yes it apparently works) and one somehow pursuaded the other to wed. Husband is at BYU finishing the Information Systems program. Likes soccer, cooking and eating good food, Nintendo Wii, and anything/everything about the wife. Wife works full time, Haircutting/coloring/stying, singing, and anything/everything about the husband. Love our families and creating laughs.
Hopefully, as a team, we will be able to continue updates and provide happenings to our friends and family.
